From the old shoebox (03): Balair DC-10 HB-IHK

Found this golden oldie in my archive. I photographed this Balair DC-10-30 HB-IHK on my first trip to Palma de Malloca (Spain) in September 1986. The aircraft was delivered directly from McDonnell Douglas to Balair on the 31st of January 1979. After 14 years of service the aircraft was sold to Martinair in 1993 as PH-MCO. In 1994 it was handed over to McDonnell Douglas as N526MD and in June 1995 it was reregistered OO-LRM with the Belgium Company Challengair who immediately leased the aircraft to Corsair and two years later (1997) to Caledonian Airways. In May 2000 the aircraft returned to the US register as N526MD with the American cargo airline Challenge Air. The aircraft was then converted to a Freighter and was leased to World Airways in 2001. Since November 2004 the 31-year old aircraft has been flying with Arrow Air and is still going strong.
